Ecumen Develops Senior Housing That Creates Memories From Yesteryear
By Dana Wollschlager, Director of Real Estate Development

Ecumen celebrates the grand opening of GracePointe Assisted Living owned by Tabitha Health Care Services www.tabitha.org in Lincoln, Nebraska. This 63-unit assisted living and Memory Care community is uniquely designed and furnished with interiors that replicate the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s.

An article posted by the BBC News Health supports the notion that innovative interior designs allow residents suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s to tap into their youth by helping them remember the past.

The unique interior finishes at GracePointe allow the residents to remember the past while celebrating life in the present in a warm, home-home like environment. Each activity space and common room is designed intentionally to provide an experience of comfort and functionality with a twist of familiarity for all who gather there. From the diner booth where you can flip through the old tabletop jukebox to the familiar kitchen where mom used to bake cookies and wash a load of laundry with the sounds of music or a baseball game playing in the background.
