Vision for Future Helped Turn a Corner Apartment Into Home

Marlene Dahlgren’s vision for her future and the number 413 played a big part in finding her home at Ecumen’s Seasons at Apple Valley. During one of her regular “Dream Team” conversations at Kelley Park with Apple Valley Mayor Mary Hamann-Roland, Marlene looked at the empty grass lot zoned for senior housing and proclaimed that someday she’d live there. She said, “The apartment will have two bedrooms… It’s important that it has a balcony overlooking Kelley Park. And… it will be on the top floor.”
Fast forward a few months and Mary and daughter Dani were touring the Seasons at Apple Valley models with the Mayor. The three loved what they saw and thought “what a beautiful place to enjoy life.” On their tour, they visited a first-floor apartment and other floor plans before touring Apartment 413.
“I walked through the door and I knew this was the vision I had way back then. Mary, Dani and I were almost in tears as we felt the sacred space that had been manifested oh so long ago,” Dahlgren said.
Mary went back home to ponder the decision to move. When she arrived, under her door was a notice that the carpeting was being replaced and she would have to pack up and store her belongings while the work was being done.
“Well, if I was going to pack anyway, it had to be a sign that I was to follow this path.”
In faith, Mary made the decision to move to Apartment 413. Coincidentally, she had many affirmations that she’d made the right decision for her new home. When moving out of her previous home, she saw both Missouri and Minnesota license plates including the number “413.” She also chose April 13 (4/13) as her move-in date.
True to the vision she had when Seasons of Apple Valley was just an open space across from Kelley Park, Mary’s new home has two bedrooms, including one for her quilting, crafting and jewelry-making, and plenty of room for her new kitten, Margo.
Mary is pictured from her balcony, where the Dream Team now meets every Sunday overlooking Kelley Park.
