Don't Forget Memory Care
According to work completed by Maxfield Research, 45% of people 85 and older will develop Alzheimer's and Dementia. Of those people that contract the disease, 25% will need to be placed in a designated memory care facility. The average age of Ecumen customers living in an assisted living community is 88 years old.
For a development that has 61 units of assisted living, in any given year, perhaps 11 to 16 customers could be diagnosed with Alzheimer's or Demintia. 5 to 8 of those customers would need to move into a dedicated memory care unit.
It is important to consider Memory Care in your housing projects to meet the demographics of our aging population.
