Plan your Work, Work your Plan

It’s been approved! You can finally get started on the remodeling project you’ve always dreamed of! You’ve been given a small budget and the green light, but what do you tackle first? One option is to channel your dollars into highly visible area such as a front lounge or a main hallway; a space that both family and residents will see and use daily. However, jumping into a quick remodel or a small project here and there may actually be more costly to you later down the road if you end up completing areas that are soon to be torn up (i.e.: carpeting an area that is soon going to be torn down or furnishing a lounge that will soon be re-purposed into another type of room).

It’s really hard to keep up with maintaining beautiful interior spaces when you constantly are managing small budgets here and there, leaving you not quite enough cash to complete one main project. Here’s my suggestion:

Start first with your operational spaces. Yes, staff areas. If your offices and ancillary function spaces are crowded, cluttered and spread out, you might be sacrificing function which in turn directly affects your staff’s pride in their work or love for what they do. Re-program your offices and try to simplify or get rid of clutter – this could mean ripping out old built-in cabinetry to replace it with modular furniture.

Once your staff areas function well, then take a look at your resident common areas which families see and socialize in. You’ll have the full support of your staff to keep the energy up and help with creative ideas! Consult with a designer for master planning ideas to help you plan out the remodeling steps you should take next that make the most sense.

This is actually an invaluable service to seniors who need remodeling according to their plans. Specially since most senior home schemes are made to company requirements.
